Before 24-hour sports television and radio, the internet and social media, Sports Phone broke new ground with constant scores and news updates to fans who dialed a pay per call service called 976-1313 (area code 212 for those who dialed long distance) in New York and other major markets. Scott Orgera, co-author of this book joins me to discuss the many great names in media and beyond who broke into the business at Sports Phone, the impact it had on gamblers who craved the score updates, interview with famous celebrities and sports figures who regularly called the service and how it became a part of the media landscape.
