Some quick blasts on a couple of other sports topics:

Brock Osweiller signing with Houston clearly shows he did not like losing the job back to Peyton Manning for the Super Bowl run. Denver trading for Mark Sanchez has clearly sent the message that they are going to maintain the game manager mentality at QB and rely on their defense to win games.

UConn and Cincinnati go 4 overtimes in their AAC tournament game which included a 55 ft shot at the buzzer at the end of the third overtime. More of why Iove March Madness

And to no one's surprise, Johnny Manziel released by the Browns. An even bigger surprise would be if anyone signed him anytime soon.

On the road to the Madness of March

First thought out of the gate - already tired of every basketball announcer referring to an extra long three pointer as Curry range.

Loved the finish of the Missouri Valley Conference tourney with Wes Washburn’s buzzer beater jumper from the top of the key that bounced high off the back iron and and through the net to send Northern Iowa past Evansville and into the big dance. The MVC is really a great basketball conference and it’s hard to fathom Wichita State may not get into the NCAA tournament.

Austin Peay making the tournament by winning the Ohio Valley Conference as an 8-seed is one of those underdog moments I love running up to the tournament. Thankfully by winning the OVC, they did get past the .500 mark on the season. While some don’t like teams that don’t have deserving regular season records getting in because they caught lightning in a bottle to win a few conference tourney, I find it thrilling when it happens. It really is part of the fabric that makes March Madness great.

At the time of this posting, 4 teams have qualified for the tournament and now a thrilling week is set up as conference tournaments fill the landscape. Just a week away from Selection Sunday and as always, I can’t wait.
