I'm going the blog route for my takes this time around...
First, to the NBA. Let's give the LeBron James legacy talk a rest. Enough about the losing record in the Finals. He keeps getting there but has run into a better team, especially two of the last three years against Golden State. And to keep comparing him to Jordan is ridiculous too. You really can't compare players in different era's. The game changes and the players change. We should be able to appreciate the great players of their times on the context of the time they played. Speaking of an era gone by, the 30 for 30 on Boston/LA rivalry of the 80's is outstanding. I have a lot things I don't like about ESPN, but the their 30 for 30 series often delivers great and compelling program and this one is a slam dunk...pun intended. The deep dislike and respect the Lakers and Celtics had for each other is captured in full splendor. And loud mouth ML Carr gets another chance to gravy train off his great Celtic teammates. Brooks Koepka wins the US Open. I would have enjoyed it more on a different network. This is the third year that FOX has had the broadcast and they don't seem to get any better. When you don't cover golf but once a year, it's tough to build a consistent and and strong broadcast like CBS and NBC. FOX continues to over expose Joe Buck who is clearly out of his element covering golf. I wish more networks were like NBC which has separate lead announcers for sports. While the FOX broadcast is mostly a dud, Brad Faxon is really good and should be on NBC or CBS golf coverage. Well, as we settle into the summer months, I'll be taking a break from the blog and the podcast but will continue to chime in along the way on Twitter @jeffallen_88 and Facebook @jeffallen88. Football season will be here soon and we will get back to regular podcasts then. Enjoy the summer my friends!
